Wimps at the University of Bath
February 25, 2010 | Comments Off
Earlier this week I had agreed to speak to a group of 100 or so politics students at the University of Bath. The date and arrangements were agreed some weeks ago. As part of a series of talks by people with differing views on British membership of the EU I would have the [...]

Job Centres Still a Disaster Area
February 20, 2010 | Comments Off
Letter to the Daily Telegraph – Unpublished
Sir
You report today (February 17) the DWP’s own condemnation of its Job Centres to cope with the influx of white-collar workers when the recession hit early last year. They can have no excuses.
I had harrowing personal experience of the woeful lack of understanding and training of Job [...]

February 18, 2010 | Comments Off
Letter to Farnham Herald
13 February 2010
Sir
Your correspondent Alec Baker last week highlighted the unacceptable consequences of the closure of Alton Post Office by the unlamented Adam Crozier who is now on his way to ruin ITV as well.
But Mr Baker appears not to be aware that Crozier was merely obeying orders from [...]

Serious Trouble in the Lunatic Asylum
February 10, 2010 | Comments Off
The last few days have produced at least three stories from the lunatic asylum in Brussels, most of which would be pure Alice in Wonderland but for the fact that our money is still being wasted and our best interests seriously threatened.
Disagreement Among Top Dogs
First, the turf wars between the bureaucrats about who is top [...]

We Cannot Be ‘Citizens’ of a Non-State
February 9, 2010 | Comments Off
The Lisbon Treaty makes extravagant claims about conferring ‘citizenship’ on people living in what it chooses to call “member states”.
This so-called ‘citizenship’ is described as a ‘right’. It apparently carries with it ‘duties’ but these have never been spelled out in any of the many EU treaties over the last 50 years.
Since [...]

European Gendarmerie Force Finally Spills the Beans
February 8, 2010 | Comments Off
The European Gendarmerie Force website says its activities and powers are to “evolve after the entry into force of the Constitution”.
But what Constitution?
Everyone in Brussels denied the Lisbon Treaty was a constitutional treaty, even though we all knew perfectly well that it was.
At last, this reference is a clear admission that they [...]

UK Govt Admits Employing Islamic Extremists
February 7, 2010 | Comments Off
The Home Secretary, Alan Johnson, has admitted his department employs Islamic extremists.
His reply to my Freedom of Information request before Christmas, following reports in the national media about the appointment and duties of Asim Hafeez, confirms the appointment last September.
As part of the Home Office’s “Prevent Interventions Unit” (sic) within [...]

Eurozone Logic – Or Not?
February 7, 2010 | Comments Off
Reports about the looming financial crisis in the eurozone have argued that staying out of the eurozone gave the UK freedom of action, and helped us avoid the disasters now unfolding in Greece and which may spread to Spain, Portugal, perhaps Ireland, and elsewhere in the foreseeable future.
Today’s Sunday Times reports that Mandelson [...]

Climate Change : Unpublished Letter to The Times
February 5, 2010 | Comments Off
Sir
Your report about the Copenhagen conference on alleged climate change made extensive use of the views of Lord Stern. However, as Ian Plimer, professor of Earth Sciences at Melbourne University, and author of Heaven and Earth has pointed out, Lord Stern’s opinions have been shown by both scientists and economists to be little more [...]

Blair Government – Treason or Malfeasance?
February 1, 2010 | Comments Off
Police Finally Respond After Three Years Delay
1 February 2010
Almost three years ago John Gouriet and I presented Scotland Yard with prima facie evidence of malfeasance at best, and treason at worst, against the prime minister and several members of Mr Blair’s cabinet.
Essentially our case rested on the fact that his government, like previous [...]
