My attention has been drawn to recent correspondence in your newspaper which mentions my investigative work on the misuse of public funds by the EU.
In particular, I gather there have been suggestions that the solution is better financial controls and the prosecution of the wrong-doers. If only!

The government is constantly telling us we are waging a “war against terror”. Now the Home Secretary says there are some 30 serious terrorist threats over the Christmas and New Year period.
In that case why does he not arrest, intern and interrogate all the suspects? Either this is a war, or it isn’t.
