You report that Commissioner Margot Wallstrom thinks UK opposition to the proposed EU constitution is an “irresistible� challenge (Feb 20). It cannot be all that irresistible. I have twice invited her to appear on a public platform in the UK to put her case. Neither was accepted.

Mr Huhne’s response to earlier letters of mine and Mr Samuel about UK:EU trade was no surprise. The Lib-Dems are wedded to the EU. But having lost the argument on the facts about trade, he now resorts to ‘isolation’ and ‘peace’.
