Secret Vote on Turkey – A Disgrace to Parliamentary Democracy, says Local MEP

South-East MEP Ashley Mote broke the rules of the European Parliament yesterday, 15 December 04, when he revealed that he voted against talks on Turkish membership of the EU.
The vote was held in secret after a ruling by the President of the Parliament, Spanish socialist Mr Borrell Fontelles, after widespread protests from members.
